Sandy Wayfarer

A sun-filled coastal home on the Mornington Peninsula — designed around light, landscape and the freedom to come and go.

A new residence set along a residential strip within the coastal landscape of the Mornington Peninsula. The home's floor plan is anchored by a main open living space oriented to the north, drawing deep natural light throughout the day and connecting seamlessly to the outdoor entertaining areas and garden beyond — a passive solar approach that makes the most of every season.

The brief was shaped by the owners' love of travel. The design accommodates a dedicated caravan bay directly accessible from the street, making it easy to hitch up and head off without fuss. A single sweeping roof unifies the main dwelling, covered outdoor entertaining area and caravan parking under one generous form — giving the home a settled, grounded presence on the street while remaining quietly distinctive.

Masonry block and Colorbond metal define the exterior — robust, low-maintenance materials well suited to the coastal environment. A muted sandy palette ties the home to its surroundings, sitting comfortably within the dunes and scrub of St Andrews Beach.
